Morning Pointe of Athens Assisted Living is signing up golfing teams for its fifth annual Mastering Memory Care Golf Tournament coming up on Wednesday, June 28.

The tournament will take place at the Springbrook Golf & Country Club in Niota, Tennessee. It will benefit the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides caregiver support programs, sponsors educational awareness events and funds clinical scholarships to advance the care of seniors.

Since its founding in 2014, the Morning Pointe Foundation has funded over 75 nursing and clinical scholarships at a dozen partnering community colleges and universities regionally, including Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Athens and in Jacksboro, Chattanooga State Community College, Columbia State Community College, and Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tennessee.

Teams of four can sign up through the morning of the tournament.

Registration and breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. tee-off. The tournament will conclude with a 1 p.m. luncheon and awards reception.

Several contests will be included in the tournament, including a putting contest, wingspan, and a new contest for closest to par.

“We’ve got new prizes and games this year, and people have even donated a couple cash prizes and a new putter,” said Crystal Sutton, executive director at Morning Pointe of Athens.

For more information, to register as a golfer or to become a sponsor, call Sutton at 423-836-3317, or email Athens-ed@morningpointe.com.

“We are getting more and more excited for this year’s Mastering Memory Golf Tournament,” said Miranda Perez, executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation. “I have seen how these funds have impacted local students’ lives through the scholarships, and it’s all possible through events like this one.”

Founded in 1997 by Tennessee healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 37 assisted living, personal care, and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states, including Morning Pointe of Athens.
