LEXINGTON, Ky. — February 23, 2026 — A simple handwritten letter can mean more than we often realize. This February, the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization is teaming up with Morning Pointe Senior Living communities across Kentucky to make sure no resident feels forgotten on Write a Letter to an Elder Day, observed February 26.
Through this collaboration, Miss Kentucky titleholders and even younger participants within the program are collecting handwritten letters to deliver to residents living in Morning Pointe communities throughout the Bluegrass State.
Morning Pointe Senior Living currently serves seniors in the following Kentucky locations:
- Richmond – 1 community
- Danville – 2 communities
- Lexington – 3 communities
- Russell – 2 communities
- Frankfort – 2 communities
- Louisville – 2 communities
- Owensboro – 1 community
The goal is to gather 50 to 60 letters per building, ensuring that each resident receives a thoughtful note filled with encouragement, kindness, and connection.
Once letters are collected, titleholders may choose to mail them directly to the communities or deliver them in person. Morning Pointe teams will help coordinate visits for those who wish to personally drop off letters, offering opportunities for tours, lunch with residents, and time spent engaging with seniors.
“At the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization, we believe leadership begins with service,” said Jessica Hogue, Booking Manager for the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization. “Partnering with Morning Pointe for ‘Write an Elder a Letter Day’ allows our contestants to live out that mission by spreading kindness and gratitude to older adults across our communities. We are grateful for the opportunity to help foster connection, respect, and heartfelt appreciation.”
Write a Letter to an Elder Day serves as a reminder that connection transcends generations. For seniors, receiving a thoughtful note can foster joy, belonging, and meaningful engagement. For titleholders, it provides a tangible way to live out their platform of service while strengthening ties within their local communities.
Both organizations hope this collaboration will not only deliver letters on February 26, but also build lasting relationships between young women committed to service and the seniors who have paved the way before them.
