What families should know about protecting themselves as they age

DANVILLE, Ky. —May 6, 2026— Families and caregivers gathered for a morning of real answers and reassurance at a Caregiver Café at Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living, where the focus was on helping individuals feel more confident navigating the legal and financial realities of aging.

The event created an open and welcoming space for conversation, bringing together caregivers, adult children, and community members who are all facing similar questions about planning ahead and protecting what matters most.

Panelists Sarah Bryant, Jennifer Cochran, and Heide Crutchfield led a thoughtful discussion, sharing practical guidance on how to safeguard finances, plan legally, and make informed decisions for the future. A key part of the conversation centered on the growing concern of scams and fraud, with attendees learning how to recognize red flags and take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Beyond the discussion, the morning offered opportunities for connection. Guests enjoyed brunch while spending time with one another and visiting with local vendors who provided additional resources and support. Participating organizations included Saving Grace, CenterWell, Weston Group, Farmers National Bank, Resolutions, and Edward Jones.

As a Morning Pointe Foundation fundraiser event, the gathering not only offered helpful education and connection for families, but also supported the Foundation’s broader mission of caregiver education and scholarship funding. Events like Caregiver Café are designed to bring useful information closer to the people who need it most, whether someone is actively navigating decisions for a loved one or simply trying to plan ahead.

The Morning Pointe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living, was founded in 2014 and supports caregiver education, nursing and workforce development scholarships, and initiatives that strengthen care for seniors and the professionals who serve them.

The event served as a reminder that while aging-related decisions can feel overwhelming, having access to reliable information and a supportive community can make all the difference. Attendees left feeling more informed, more prepared, and better equipped for the road ahead.
