The Morning Pointe Foundation is now registering teams of four for its 8th Annual Mastering Memory Golf Tournament on Aug. 22 at the Lookout Mountain Club.
Proceeds from the tournament go to the Foundation to provide clinical scholarships to students at local community colleges and universities. These include Chattanooga State Community College, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Southern Adventist University and Cleveland State Community College.
The Morning Pointe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by Tennessee-based senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. The 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization was created in 2014 to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events, and fund clinical scholarships to advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.
Twenty-eight teams from throughout the Tennessee Valley will compete. Registration and breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m., with the shotgun start at 8:30. The tournament will conclude with an awards luncheon at 1 p.m.
The biggest prize this year will be a 2023 Land Rover Discovery Sport provided by sponsor Land Rover of Chattanooga. The vehicle will go to the winner of the hole-in-one contest at Hole 13. Other contests will include longest drive, putting and closest to the hole, with prizes from sponsors around the Chattanooga area.
“We have a great time each year playing some golf to help make dreams come true for some local students,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation Executive Director. “This year, we are especially excited to be some of the first to play on the newly renovated Lookout Mountain Club! If you love to golf and have a heart for seniors or students pursuing nursing education, please join us for the Mastering Memory Golf Tournament.”
Other sponsors of the event include Presenting Sponsor UBS – The Union Square Group; Platinum Sponsors Neuhoff Taylor Architects, P.C., First Horizon Bank, ETSB General Contractors and Propel Insurance; and Lead Sponsor Wold HFR Design. Greystone is sponsoring the luncheon and reception, and Miller & Martin is sponsoring the carts.
“We love getting together with our community partners and friends for this fun and purposeful event each year,” said Morning Pointe Senior Living President Greg A. Vital. “The Mastering Memory Care Golf Tournament makes a big impact in our community with the students who receive the scholarships through the Morning Pointe Foundation. I am proud of the work the Foundation does and thankful for each of our sponsors and golfers.”
Last year’s tournament raised nearly $80,000 for the Foundation.
In case of rain, the event will be held Aug. 29.
